I noticed that you mentioned that many of the wooden clocks seen are inspired by the 1985 FineWoodWorking article.
Did you know that was a followup , and an answer to many requests by their readership for plans? Why you ask, well the first FineWoodworking in 1975 had a fine woodenclock made by John Gaughan, later the same clock was featuruued on the cover of the spring 1978 magazine.
In this was a well written article by John Lord which was my inspiration. The article contained some of the math and principles I needed.
